Leto & Piktogram gallery
As a result of our project, the brick hall, previously used as a warehouse, has been completely reorganised. The overarching task was to obtain optimal spaces for exhibition purposes.
On the ground floor there are two halls: the first one intended for classical exhibitions, two-level and illuminated by natural light, and the second - single-level, acoustically isolated, intended mainly for projection. The different conditions of these two spaces allow for the exhibition of a variety of works of art — from video, through classical painting, to large-scale installations.
The gallery does not only focus on art exhibitions — in addition to the rooms on the ground floor there is a spacious hall with a mini bookstore, and on the mezzanine specially added for this purpose, a space intended for lectures, readings or smaller exhibitions has been arranged.
A specific attraction of the Leto and Piktogram galleries is the “resident's cottage” — a wooden structure, an isolated space overlooking the exhibition hall, where the artists can stay.
The first floor houses the offices of both galleries — spacious rooms overlooking the greenery, in which fragments of recovered steel-glass partitions were used, complementing them with bulky shelves built of plywood.
The entire space of the gallery was treated as a backdrop for the events taking place here and the works of art shown here. The exhibition halls have a sterile character, dominated by smooth surfaces in a subdued palette of colours - white, grey and light wood. In the entrance and office area, found details and textures have been preserved - bricks, ceramic tiles or wooden beams.
The facade of the hall was renovated and painted in a light blue colour, quoted from the white poplar standing in front of the building. In front of the building, an entrance structure was added, which consists of two intertwined, extruded planes — concrete and steel, made of bridge grating. The structure combines all the necessary functions — canopies, poster panel, driveway, wipers and seating. Illuminated elements show the way to the vernissage in the evening
