'EMILIA' PAVILION ADAPTATION

The design aims to highlight the existing features of the building and add contemporary elements due to the change of the function.

Closed atrium functions as an auditorium, a hall and educational zone. Traffic is moved to the perimeter of the building. City views penetrate the exhibition. The space redefines  the presence of art in the city.

Bookstore is located between main hall and exhibition space and draws passer-bys inside.

Cafe is situated by the main hall, adjacent to a green passage, which can be used in the warmer months. The passage acts as an outdoor exhibition space and connects the pavilion with the Museum headquarters.

Enclosed 13-metre high atrium can be used as extra exhibition space.

Proposed auditorium of double hight has two entrances that allow for easy access both from the main hall and the -1 level. The auditorium is filled with natural light. Events happening in the space can be watched from outside thanks to three glass walls.

Exhibition spaces are placed on all levels of the building, providing different lighting conditions. Three main types were designed - for permanent, temporary and ‘Project Room’ exhibitions. Art events can also be organized in the main hall.
